Plan the light at your destination wedding reception
Bring your photographer into the lighting conversation before the celebration moves from daylight into evening.
An ocean terrace at noon and the same terrace after sunset are very different photographic settings. Talk about the reception light with your planner, designer, lighting team, and photographer while the atmosphere is still being planned.
Think beyond the view
Explain the feeling you want: intimate candlelight, a lively dance floor, or a room whose architecture remains visible. Consider the faces as well as the flowers and table settings. An outdoor reception also needs a thoughtful plan once the surrounding view becomes dark.
Ask the team to coordinate the light for speeches, dining, and dancing, including the weather-backup space. Photography should preserve the atmosphere you chose. Planning together helps the team do that without leaving the important moments to whatever light happens to be available.
